Ross Turnbull is a Portfolio Manager and Vice President at Odlum Brown Limited. He provides discretionary investment management services to individuals and non-profit organizations who typically have $1 million or more to invest.
Ross has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, Ross was the Industrial and Forest Products Analyst for Odlum Brown's Research Department. Preceding this, Ross was a Manager in the Corporate Value Consulting practice of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, a global accounting firm.
Ross is a proponent of Odlum Brown's value-based investment style. He utilizes his strong valuation, finance and accounting skills to build customized portfolios, monitor investment risks and minimize taxes. During his five year tenure in the Research Department, Ross contributed to the direction of the hypothetical Odlum Brown Model Portfolio and assumed the lead role for the hypothetical Odlum Brown Yield Portfolio. As an Analyst, Ross was frequently quoted in Canada's major business publications. He has made numerous appearances as a business guest on CBC and the Business News Network. Ross continues to work closely with Odlum Brown’s Research Department and, where appropriate, he aligns his equity portfolios and strategy with that of the Odlum Brown Model Portfolio.
Ross is a member of Odlum Brown’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Investment Management Committee. He served as Chair of Odlum Brown in 2019, 2020 and 2021, smoothly transitioning the role to Andy Eisenbock at the end of fiscal 2021. Outside of Odlum Brown, Ross is a Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs Foundation of South Coast BC. He is a past President of the Vancouver Club, a past director of the CFA Society Vancouver and past member of the Board of Governors of Crofton House School.
After graduating from the University of Victoria in 1992, Ross studied business and accounting at McGill University. He obtained a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1997, a Chartered Business Valuator designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CBV) in 1999 and became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 2003.
Ross resides in Vancouver with his wife and their two children.
