After attending McGill University in Montreal on a hockey scholarship and graduating in 1996 with a Major in North American Studies, Brian returned home to Vancouver to work for the head office of an international mutual fund company. There, he held responsibilities in marketing and client services. Brian then moved to a local boutique investment dealer where he completed extensive training and gained experience working with a team of senior Investment Advisors. Brian furthered his financial knowledge with a year of study in economics and finance at the University of British Columbia. He joined Odlum Brown in 2000, where he continues to develop investment solutions that suit his clients’ needs.
When recommending equities, Brian uncovers quality companies that are temporarily out-of-favour with the market. Historically, this has produced superior investment returns while reducing risk. Brian understands that his clients are unique and their financial goals require tailored portfolios diversified with a full range of investment products in both equities and fixed income, not a general “cookie-cutter” approach. He prides himself on his attention to detail and the degree of personal attention that each portfolio receives.
Brian became a Portfolio Manager in 2014 and has achieved the Canadian Investment Manager designation. He was also granted the prestigious Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute designation in 2011. In addition to being fully registered with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), Brian has completed the Investment Management Techniques course, the Portfolio Management Techniques course and the Professional Financial Planning course.
Outside of work, Brian can be found on the hockey rink or on the golf course. He has also spent many hours coaching various elite level hockey players in Canada and the U.S.
